Cookie consent banner for WordPress: three categories, the choice stays in the visitor's browser, a consent log for audit. No clouds.

== Description ==

Cookie consent that respects the visitor and the site owner: a light
banner, a choice that lives in the browser, and an audit log for the
site admin.

= What it does =

* A consent banner with Accept-all and Reject-optional choices.
* The choice is stored in the visitor's own localStorage - no consent
  management platform, no external scripts.
* An anonymous consent log for the site admin (random id, choice,
  time - no PII), with automatic retention.
* Banner texts and labels are editable.
* A 12 KB banner with zero external requests.

= Consent Kit Pro =

The Pro companion adds script blocking placeholders for known tracking
scripts, granular category toggles, a reopen button and a statistics
dashboard. Learn more: https://yodsira.com/en/product/consent-kit/

== Installation ==

1. Install the plugin through the WordPress plugins screen (Plugins ->
   Add New -> Upload Plugin) and activate it.
2. The banner appears for new visitors immediately.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Does it block tracking scripts? =

The free version records the choice; the banner itself makes no calls
anywhere. Pro adds automatic blocking placeholders for known tracking
scripts until consent is given.

= Where is the consent stored? =

In the visitor's localStorage, plus an anonymous log entry on your own
site (random id, category choice, time - no IPs, no PII).

= Is it a legal advice or a guarantee? =

No. It is a tool that records and stores consent decisions. Formulate
your privacy policy separately.

= Is anything sent to third parties? =

No. Consent Kit works entirely on your site.

== Changelog ==

= 1.0.0 =
* First release: consent banner, localStorage choice, anonymous
  consent log with retention, editable texts.

== Privacy & Data ==

Consent Kit stores settings and an anonymous consent log (random id,
choice, time) in your own WordPress database. The visitor's choice is
also stored in their browser's localStorage. Nothing is sent to any
external service.
