About
PDF Protect encrypts your documents on your computer: an open password is required — the app flatly refuses to produce a password-less protected file with an empty password, because that would be security theater. AES-256 is used when the crypto backend allows it.
Free protects 2 files a day (same password for opening and permissions). Pro removes the limit and adds a separate owner password for permission control. One key covers up to 3 Windows PCs.

I lost my password. Can you recover it?
No — and that is the point: the file is genuinely encrypted. Keep the password safe.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The app works fully offline; only license activation and update checks touch the network.
What do I get after payment?

Installation & uninstall
Free version
- Download the app with the "Download free" button above and unpack the zip.
- Run pdf-protect.exe — no installation needed.
- Add a file, press "Convert" — the result appears next to it.
Pro version
- After payment you get a license key.
- Menu Pro → "Activate…" — paste the key, Pro unlocks on up to 3 PCs.
Uninstall
- Delete the app folder — the system keeps no traces.
Desktop apps leave no traces: delete the folder and it is gone.
